“Community
Vigils”
Dear
Friends,
We
want to thank everyone for remembering us in prayer now that we have
returned to
Malawi
. We thought a quick update
was in order.
 |
Today
was the day of the planned demonstrations against the government.
The week was a difficult one as the
Blantyre
market was burned to the ground. This
market is directly behind our church.
Another civil rights activist had his home petrol bombed.
The United Nations initiated talks failed earlier this week and the
civil rights groups were given permission from the High Court of
Malawi
to have demonstrations today. Many
were expecting the worst and shops were boarded up last night and schools
were cancelled. At the last
moment, the civil rights groups called everyone to have quiet vigils in
their communities for the next three days.
They urged no one to go into the city centre and riot.
This ended up being a very quiet and peaceful day.
We’re not sure that it accomplished anything politically.
We’re sure everyone will be back to work and school tomorrow.
Thank you for your prayers.

Keagan
also had another consultation with
the orthopaedic surgeon in
Malawi
and
it was determined that the proposed surgery
would not be needed.
This
is another answer to prayer.
Your
prayers have been so appreciated!

our thanks,
