Halliwells in
Malawi
October 2010
Dear
Friends,
We
send you warm wishes from a very warm
Malawi
! As your temperatures
fall, ours are rising rapidly! It
is very dry and hot in
Malawi
now!
We
thank God for our premises as
City
Pentecostal
Church
has settled nicely back into our building and all ministries have
resumed after the devastating fire earlier in the year.
The children and the ladies have been busy sewing new banners
to put up around the church to fill our now empty walls.
It has been a very bonding time for the congregation to pull
together and get through a crisis.
Kerry has also fully recovered from pneumonia.
Praise God for taking us through and out of the valleys!
The
job-skills training centre (Samaritan’s Trust) is going forward.
The street kids are busy learning many skills and now that
one of our Board members is the managing director, it is running
smoothly. Along with
building wooden instruments such as guitars, one of the teachers,
Ian, is educating the people of
Malawi
to replace the wood that is used by starting a tree growing project
that more than replaces whatever wood is used for these projects.
It is a great way to help with the deforestation that is
taking place all over
Malawi
. Every little bit
helps!
The
Fountain of Life ministry continues to be a blessing in the
government schools across the
Blantyre
area as they educate the students about abuse and how to get help.
We are now seeking a permanent “office” and “safe
house” for the Fountain of Life ministry.
We hope to find an affordable place before the end of the
year. This would allow
victims a safe place to stay and counselling in one location.
We
want to introduce you to the newest staff member of
City
Pentecostal
Church
. His name is Francis
Kalembera. He is a
wonderful, godly man with a heart to serve and pastor a city church.
We are currently sponsoring him through
Bible
School
and he is busy at CPC on the weekends preaching, teaching and
counselling. Please pray
for Francis as he grows in knowledge and looks to the future.
Thank
you for your continued prayers and support.
It has been 2 ˝ years since we have been in
Canada
. Your prayers and
messages of encouragement are very welcome and so appreciated!
With
Love,
