Halliwells in Malawi April 2011

Dear Friends,

It with great pleasure that we can report that God is so faithful!  Despite setbacks and difficulties, He is always there.  We count it a privilege to be serving in Malawi after 19 years!  There have been times of great trial but God continues to bless.  Above is the new official Malawi National Flag which shows that progress Malawi is making.  The sun is now longer “rising”, it has now “risen”!

City Pentecostal Church continues to grow and now we are looking at renting the upper floor in the building that we are currently in.  We have run out of space for our ever-growing congregation and in order to accommodate this, we need to move.  We now have two services on Sunday.  The second service is targeted at the Youth which is a huge percentage of Malawi ’s population.  Last weekend we held a bbq that helped to bond the CPC Youth.  Please pray that the owners of the building will give us a fair contract for the upper floor of the building.

Glen’s radio ministry “The Truth Will Set You Free” continues to bless as it is broadcast every Sunday across Malawi .  We now have an access for questions and comments through the church’s web site www.cpcmw.org.  This web site gives information about all the ministries of City Pentecostal Church .  You are always welcome to see what is going on by logging on to this web site!

Last weekend we had a glorious day “away” for an Inter-denominational Worship Training day.  Three different churches were invited and we spent time in the Word and talking about Worship in the church.  This event happens three times a year and helps the churches in the city to support each other in this very important ministry.  Sadly, on the way home, Kerry was caught in another mob that was leaving the stadium from the Malawi vs. Togo football match.  Win, lose or draw, the crowds seem to riot after a match.  We had been caught in one before so I decided to seek refuge in the closest place.  When I looked around, the only building in sight between the mob and my car was the Islamic Educational Centre.  I quickly pulled my car in through the metal gates and down into the premises, hiding my car until the crowds went by.  Who would have thought this would be my refuge!!

Thank you for all your encouragement and messages of love.  We are so appreciative of your support!  Keep us in prayer as we continue to seek a permanent home for our church and all of its ministries.

With Love,

Glen and Kerry Halliwell
